Hugo Vau may have ridden the "Big Mama" at Nazaré

On January 17, 2018, Portuguese big wave surfer Hugo Vau had a day he will remember for the rest of his life at Nazaré’s Praia do Norte, in Portugal. According to several sources that were at the scene of the surf, Vau caught what might have been the largest wave ever surfed at 115 feet (35 meters). “I’m proud of you, Vau! Today, I saw probably the biggest wave surfed at Nazaré by Hugo Vau on the biggest swell ever! The conditions were hard, but the perseverance of this amazing Portuguese team was speechless!” said videographer Jorge Leal.
