Bound for Botany Bay Glory

Nocturnally Ours

Madness falls across the sea, the midnight Ours is where they’ll be. We are of course talking about the New South Wales Maroubra Chargers Mark Mathews and Richie Vas who recently spoke with the  The Daily Telegraph.

OURS is an awe inspiring reef break near Botany Bay NSW and was discovered by the Bra Boys a decade ago. Its beauty matched only by its unforgiving might.

This clan of Surfers inspired a film by the title Bra Boys: Blood is Thicker than Water, written and directed by the clan and released on the 15th of March 2007.

“It was surreal,” chuckled Vas. “Sitting out in the ocean at 2.30am with your mates, when it’s pitch black and you should be curled up in bed. Not sitting in the cold, washing up against the rocks and bouncing off the reef. There was definitely a fear factor involved. But then when you were on the wave and it was lit up, the colours were amazing. If you picked the right one.”

Anticipation of Sharks was momentarily subdued by a montage of colour and lights rarely if ever experienced by surfers in this arena of monstrous power.
