Located on the eastern end of the Mediterranean Sea, Lebanon is pretty much a coastal nation. Surprisingly, or maybe not, it has great waves and a tight surfing community. With 125 miles (220 kilometers) of coastline, the Republic of Lebanon is a young independent country with nearly seven million inhabitants. In the 1950s and 1960s, it was hailed as the “Switzerland of the East,” thanks to its financial power and political stability.
