Tane Wallis and Jasmine Smith have conquered the Aerial7 Backdoor Pro Junior, after eight hours of surfing in tough conditions, at Mount Maunganui’s Main Beach, New Zealand. In wild two-meter waves, Wallis was a standout surfer all day, completing big powerful turns tight in the pocket. The lanky natural footer was basically the surfer who held his composure the best in the challenging conditions. “It was pretty hard out there in the final and congrats to everyone who surfed today, the conditions took their toll for sure and for me in the fourth and final heat of the day, fatigue was definitely a factor and I think that showed in the amount of times I fell”, said Tane Wallis.
