Andy Criere and Garazi Sanchez-Ortun won the inaugural Santa Cruz Pro 2016, in three-to-four-foot surf at Praia da Fisica, in Portugal. The French surfer defeated the Portuguese star Jose Ferreira in the Men’s final. Criere opened his account with a 6.67 wave and later backed it up with a convincing 8.33. Ferreira never found his rhythm, and only collected 5.66 points from the judges. “I’m beyond stoked! After last year’s final, I really wanted to win an event and today was my day I guess. Everything went my way, day’s like this don’t come too often, so I’m enjoying this,” explained Andy Criere.
