The competition moved to the backup site of Molhe Leste, where pro surfers battled strong currents, shifty peaks, onshore winds, and waves in the three-to-eight-foot range. Jeremy Flores seemed comfortable in the new surf spot. The French advanced through to the quarterfinals, in a tough heat against local hero Vasco Ribeiro and Keanu Asing.
