Vasco Ribeiro and Mahina Maeda have conquered the ASP World Junior Championships 2014, in Ribeira D’Ilhas, Ericeira, in Portugal. It could’ve been an all-Portuguese or all-Brazilian final, but the last minutes of the semifinals were critical for both flags. Local hero Tomas Fernandes missed the final by a very narrow margin, but fellow countryman Vasco Ribeiro got a well-deserved revenge against Deivid Silva. The final was a tense affair. The crowd waved Portuguese flags and cheered for Ribeiro. The Brazilian opened the ultimate clash with a 6.17-point ride, but the Portuguese rapidly answered with an ultra-competent 9.00 score.
